Broadfield House Glass Museum

Contrary to the reports that the museum had been saved, this would appear not to be the case.

I spoke to Broadfield (prior to sending off this report - mid December) and was advised that the future of Broadfield is uncertain, and the Corporation still intend to try and house the glass collection at the Red House.

The Museum is fighting the decision, and the battle continues.

The Following, for your information has been extracted from
The Friends of Broadfield House.

"As the dust settles on the welcome news that the museum
closure has been avoided there are still many questions to
be answered. There is also much work to be done to secure
the museums future.

In the short term the museum is safe. In the long term
things are still unclear. For the moment we can all take a
breath, step back and review the events.

However the need for the Council to make savings has not
gone away and the current arrangement, essentially unchanged
from before the campaign, still leaves the museum vulnerable.

A more comprehensive article will be published once the
current situation and future plans are better understood.

In the meantime the Friends would like to thank all those that
have given their support to the museum and watch this space."
